Minimum wage

There are new regulations with respect to the National Minimum Wage, which took effect on 1st October 2008. The rates are based on the recommendations of the independent Low Pay Commission. Main (adult) rate for workers aged 22 and over 5.73 per hour. Development rate for workers aged 18 – 21 inclusive 4.77 per hour. For 16 and 17 year olds the minimum wage is 3.53 per hour.
